Lenny Abrahamson Returns With The Little Stranger

Before becoming hugely successful with his Oscar winning film Room, Lenny Abrahamson was known for smaller indie movies such as Frank, Garage and What Richard Did. Now he’s come back with The Little Stranger, which stars Domhnall Gleeson. Here’s the first trailer.

Set in 1947 the film tells the story of Dr. Faraday (Gleeson), the local county doctor who has built up a respectable reputation in the community. When he is summoned to Hundreds Hall, where his mother used to live, he find that his new patient and their family are being haunted by something sinister within the house. Oooooo spooky, no??

Based on the novel of the same name by Sarah Waters, the writer is also known for The Handmaiden, Affinity and The Night’s Watch (no, not THAT Night’s Watch!) The book has been adapated by screenwriter Lucinda Coxon, whose previous work includes The Danish Girl and The Crimson Petal and the White.

Also starring Ruth Wilson, Charlotte Rampling, Will “the eyebrows” Poulter and Anna Madeley, the film, which reunites Gleeson and Abrahamson who worked together on Frank, is set for a release in August, 2018.

Keep. It. Reel.
